Experience Jean Claude Jolet’s live sculpture-making as he explores the intersection of cultures lost and found.
Meet artist Jean Claude Jolet as he works on his triptych sculptures titled “Lemuria” in the Edith Cavell mall’s courtyard. To parallel the myths and the history that have inspired House of Digital Art’s current exhibition, this particular installation will take the form of fractured continents, alluding to the imaginary maps of Lemuria.
About Jean Claude Jolet
Jean Claude Jolet was born in Paris in 1958. After a lengthy career in the technical field, he moves to Reunion Island in 1999 and decides to explore 3D space through his artistic endeavours. Utilising the relationship between humans and their environment as a guiding light, JC Jolet’s work has been reevaluating various aspects of craftsmanship and cultural practices for 12 years and counting. It poses, amongst other themes, metaphorical takes on inter-mingling identities and acculturation. Jolet takes particular interest in propelling everyday objects and practices into contexts of multicultural intersection. This often leads to installations descended from blurred, apocryphal origins that never fail to capture the spectator’s attention
